I had a smoking hot Valentine’s Day last night.
The heat was generated from the horsepower and speed of the Monster Trucks my family and I saw last night at Monster Jam, IZOD Center.
And for those of you who have Monster Truck enthusiasts (or perhaps you or your husband are one yourself), there are still tickets available for tonight’s show at IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. If you’re reading this and live in other parts of the U.S., you’re in luck – because Monster Jam is likely heading to a city near you very soon (check out their site for details)!
My son, husband and brother-in-law and I were treated to a VIP meet and greet with Adam Anderson, driver of Grave Digger The Legend, learned some interesting facts about the trucks (those wheels are 66 inches high!) and walked the track to see the other trucks up close.
My toddler enjoyed exploring the pit, meeting each driver – they could NOT have been nicer, by the way! – and taking photos with them. My boys also loved getting driver autographs in their souvenir Monster Jam yearbook.
Then it was off to the races!
OK, so Monster trucks don’t really race…they, well..crush? smash? jump? I’m still trying to figure out what they do. But what I DO know is that they is ENTERTAIN the masses.
The crowd went wild as Thrasher – a crowd favorite – came barreling through the arena and did a wheelie over four burned out cars.
The revv of the engines alone is entertaining. But it’s also incredibly, incredibly loud. Thanks to my friend, Melanie, we were prepared for my son – we had Monster Jam earphones in tow to protect his little ears. Of course, we forgot about our adult ears. Thankfully, Lauren from Playground Talk came to the rescue with earplugs for us! (p.s. earplugs and headphones are for sale at the souvenir stand if needed)
Overall, a fun night was had by all. There’s no denying the energy, excitement and passion that is Monster Jam. And if you’re in the NY/NJ area, you still have a shot to check it out for yourself tonight.
Oh – and one last thing for those in the NYC Metro Area: on our drive home from IZOD Center, we noticed the sign on TGIFriday’s on Rt. 17 South saying “Free Appetizer with Monster Jam ticket stub Feb 14-15.” Keep it in mind if you’re looking for pre- or post-show nibbles.
Rally on!
