I started to think about what our family’s holiday card would look like back in the summer. Partly because I’m a bit of a planner when it comes to holiday logistics and happenings. But mostly because a Pinhole Press product caught my eye at a holiday blogger event in July. And inspiration typically leads to immediate action for mom a la mode.
I knew that I wanted to capture a few of our family adventures and tell a story via pictures, yet also have enough space to convey a meaningful holiday message. I was also looking for a format that was a little outside of what other photo card companies have on the market. I wanted to keep the actual card design simple, clean and focused on, well – us — and not so much the artwork of a designer.
So I found a good fit with Pinhole Press, whose tagline “Beautifully simple photo gifts” seemed in line with what I was hoping to achieve with our 2014 holiday card. They shared in my excitement and generously allowed me to check out their collection, and offered to print up some cards for my family. For which we are incredibly grateful.
I selected the Vintage Flower Accordion Photo Card, which is a fold out card that extends to about 16 inches in length, allowing me to include 7 photos on one side, and 1 photo on the opposite side.
In addition to being able to share our story through photos through this particular design, I really loved the ample amount of space of this card style that allowed for text. I wasn’t looking to include a family newsletter per se, but I did need more than 2-3 lines of text to convey the message I wanted to share with our family and friends.
While I did run into a little bit of difficulty with formatting my text during the online ordering process, it was quickly and effortlessly smoothed over by an amicable Pinhole Press consultant based out on the West Coast (yes, their customer service team is USA-based!), who ensured my card set up was exactly how I wanted it. And let me tell you – excellent customer service goes a long way with mom a la mode. Especially after hearing some horror stories from friends about their dealings with other online photo card providers, and experiencing some of my own over the years.
In addition to the holiday card offering, Pinhole Press has a complete collection of photo gifts that are unique, well priced and special. I just adore this personalized Memory Game, at a steal for $19.99.
And then this innovative Breakfast Buddy Personalized Gift Box is complete with tea, granola mix and a Filmstrip List pad that’s customized with your photos. Best part? Under $50.
So here’s the good news: Pinhole Press is offering 25% off photo cards with code PHOTOCHEER, as well as FREE economy shipping within the U.S. for orders $55+ — click here to have a look around the site and get inspired to craft a holiday card or gift that speaks to you and your family. I’d love it for you to share with me in the comments below if a specific product or design gets you especially excited.
Happy Holidays to you and yours.
