Spring was in the air (in more ways than one) last weekend in the West Village, where several prominent childrenswear designers showcased their Spring/Summer 2013 collections as part of petite PARADE/Vogue bambini Kids Fashion Week.
I was invited to check out the shows held at Industria Studios, thanks to Stride Rite, who was an event sponsor and who also provided much of the footwear for the models.
It’s hard to think “Spring” as we’re still carving Jack-o-Lanterns (and/or hunkering down for the Frankenstorm), but it’s certainly exciting to see what some of the trends will be for our kiddies in just a few short months.
Styles ran the gamut from sweet floral prints to gorgeous textures on cropped jackets to shocks of neon in trims and in footwear. Stride Rite really shined with their shoe options especially for little girls – from strappy sandals to adorable sparkly flats and fruity pastel slip ons. And I think my son will need to rock a pair of Sperry Top-Siders this Spring because the boys who wore them were too cool for words.
The little angels who graced the runway really brought it – some lip-synching to the pumping music while others striking a pose for the pool of shutterbugs at the end of the runway.
Some stand-outs for me in boys fashion were iNTAKT while the girls modeling Monnalisa and Miss Blumarine were superstars. And, although I didn’t get to see the Lily Pulitzer show, based on the press materials I received, I can tell you that the dresses adorned with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS looked simply irresistible!
Below are some photos from the show (all shoes are by Stride Rite, while the clothing designer name can be seen above the runway in each photo).
{I was not compensated in any way for this post. I did receive a gift bag with assorted press materials and product samples. As always, all opinions expressed here are solely mine.}

How can I have my son cast for the runways

How do you attend the kids fashion week? Do you only have to be invited? And how can you get your child to cast for their runway? Please let me know thanks!

Hi and thanks for your question.
Yes, it is invite only for petitePARADE fashion shows. I was invited through my relationships with certain brands. You might try to reach out to petitePARADE directly or via their social media networks if you are interested in attending their shows. The shows typically run twice a year.
