Does your child LOVE trains?
AND music?
Then don’t miss the Rockin’ Railroad class at Kidville.
If you read my previous post about Our Musical Journey, you know that my son puts the “Roc” in “Kindie Rock.”
So my pal Marissa from Hip and Healthy Kids and I brought our boys to a complimentary class at Kidville recently (you can, too!) and were amazed with how much fun our little guys had from start to finish with this new musical experience.
Rockin’ Railroad is a little bit different from what Roc and I have been used to at Music for Aardvarks, but it was equally as enjoyable. For starters, there is a 4-piece LIVE BAND and a small stage as part of Rockin’ Railroad, complete with a keyboardist, drummer, guitarist and lead vocalist! Whereas Aardvarks has a lead vocalist and an acoustic guitar, and is a bit more rooted in folk/indy rock sounds.
Our spirited leaders, Kevin, on guitar, and Margot, lead vocalist, started our choo-choo journey by handing out tickets and then singing a song that celebrated each child by name. We were then catapulted from one activity to the next –from marching and running to visiting Grandma’s House through puppet play and even sitting for a musical story.
Roc and his buddy were the amongst the oldest in the class, at 3 years old, but even these adorable 2 year-old twin boys were moving and grooving and engaged by what was going on.
Rockin’ Railroad infused bubbles, props, story time, free dance and instrument play into a fast-moving 45 minute session. While at times, the transitions from one activity to the next didn’t seem inter-related to me, I do realize that this likely does not matter to a 3-year-old. It’s just plain ol’ fun, mom –duh!
We had a lively, fun and different musical experience at our class at Kidville. And as mentioned earlier, this was a complimentary class — and if you visit Kidville’s website, you, too can take advantage of a complimentary trial class. They have a bunch of locations throughout the NYC Metro Area, as well as in California, Texas, Maryland and more!
And one very cool last thing to mention about Kidville — they have this awesomeness called “Parent’s Night Out” — where you can drop your child(ren) at Kidville and enjoy 3 hours out at dinner with the hubs while they have fun….and by fun that means: arts and crafts, movies, gym activities and even pizza. Best part? THEY DON’T HAVE TO BE POTTY TRAINED!!!
Parent’s Night Out is open to children ages 2-8 and reservations are a must. The Kidville Englewood location offers this program almost monthly, and the next one is Friday, July 12th from 6-9pm. It’s $30 member/$35 non-member. Visit the website for more information. Tell them mom a la mode sent ya 🙂
