Last week, I had the chance to spend a special evening in NYC with some of my fellow blogger friends at a Nursery Trends event sponsored by The MDB Family, Project Nursery and Momtrends.
We gathered in a chic Chelsea loft to check out some of the finest in nursery furnishings from brands like Nurseryworks, Babyletto, Franklin & Ben, DaVinci, Million Dollar Baby and Ubabub; as well as the trendiest in accessories from Serena & Lily, Babesta, aden+anais, The Land of Nod, Oliver B, Ubbi, Pins and Needles, Children Inspire Design, Carousel Designs.
And perhaps the best part of the event — the opportunity to compete in a friendly nursery design challenge using cribs from the MDB Family and stylish nursery accessories. (But let me tell you – we took things a step further!)
The idea was that the bloggers were broken up into teams, and given literally a blank slate to work with:
We were told we could use any accessories from the showroom to create our own unique nursery space. And Pam & Melisa – Project Nursery co-founders – would be the judges. And it would be recorded for their blog and YouTube channel.
Gee…no pressure.
So I was on Team Blue, along with bloggers like Pam K. of Triple Threat Mommy, Scherrie D. of Thirty Mommy, Alethea F. of Photo Sanity, Ashley B. of Loom Decor. To say that we thought outside of the box is putting it mildly. We collectively decided our concept would be “Black, White and Read Allover” with a play-on-words to focus on pops of crimson and also have lots of books and a resting/reading nook by way of the swanky white leather couch we poached from the event space outside the studio.
Out ingenuity paid off, as WE WON THE CONTEST!!! Here is a photo of our winning design:
And lucky Ashley even won a crib from the MDB Family!
Hip and Healthy Kids blogger, Marissa A. and I enjoyed checking out the fine furnishings and cool nursery decor created by the Project Nursery founders. And we agreed that if you are a mama-to-be (or a current mama looking to freshen things up a bit in your tot’s room), you’ll want to keep an eye out for Project Nursery’s complete source list and additional designs on their blog. Also, be on the lookout for the “Nursery Design Challenge” featured on Project Nursery’s new YouTube channel (you might even see someone you recognize!)
