Just in Time for Summer: Trying Out The Applebee’s Wood Fired Grill Menu {Giveaway Closed}

It’s Summertime which means it’s officially time to fire up the grill!

And that’s exactly what our friends at Applebee’s have done, kicking their grilled menu items up a few notches by spending more than $40 million and over 60,000+ hours to launch the new Wood Fired Grill Menu.

This meant extensive kitchen renovations, with the addition of special grills featuring American Oak, as well as trained chefs to be the official in-house Meat Cutters where they start with a whole sirloin or bone-in pork rack, evaluate and then cut each perfect steak or chop with their American-made knife exclusively designed for Applebee’s meat cutters. This is part of the largest kitchen renovation in company history!

So the steaks, chops and salmon better be pretty good, right?

Well, the mom a la mode family is happy to report – YES!

We had the chance to celebrate Uncle Chris’s birthday recently at our local Applebee’s — one of Chris and my son’s favorite spots — and sampled the 12oz Butcher’s Cut Sirloin and the Hand-cut Bone-in Pork Chop from the new Wood Fired Grill Menu.

We were highly impressed with the flavors, presentation and above all, the value, of the meal.  We appreciated the quality and Mike and Chris both cleaned their plates.

The new Wood Fired Grill Menu includes:

• 8 oz. and 6 oz. Hand-cut USDA Choice Top Sirloin Steaks
• Hand-cut Bone-in Pork Chops with Honey Apple Chutney
• Cedar-grilled Salmon with Maple Mustard Glaze
• Grilled Chicken Breast

 

However, you’ll find that dishes from the standard menu that incorporate meats and vegetables are also prepared on the new Wood Fired Grills – from salads to appetizers – adding the right amount of mild smokiness to each bite.  Case in point, I ordered the Fajita Chicken Roll Up from the standard menu, and could tell that my grilled chicken was cooked on the American Oak based on the subtle smokey flavor.

The new meu items are available at Applebee’s locations owned and operated by Doherty Enterprises in New Jersey, Long Island, Florida and Georgia. In New Jersey, Applebee’s is located in Brick, Bridgewater, Butler, Clark, Clifton, East Hanover, Edison, Flemington, Garfield, Hackensack, Hackettstown, Hillsborough, Howell, Jersey City, Jersey Gardens, Kearny, Lacey, Manahawkin, Manalapan, Manchester, Middletown, Milltown, Mt. Olive, Newark, Newton, North Bergen, Northvale, Ocean, Paramus, Parsippany, Phillipsburg, Piscataway, Rockaway, Tinton Falls, Toms River, Totowa, Union, Wall and Woodbridge. (NOTE: The Toms River Applebee’s at the Ocean County Mall does not have the wood-fired grills at this time, but will offer the new hand-cut menu items)

On Long Island, Applebee’s is located in Nassau County:  Baldwin, Bellmore, Bethpage, Elmont, New Hyde Park, Rosedale, Valley Stream and Westbury and in Suffolk County:  Bohemia, Brentwood, Commack, East Farmingdale, East Islip, Farmingville, Huntington, Lake Grove, Lindenhurst, Miller Place, North Babylon, Patchogue, Riverhead and Shirley.

By participating in the Sweepstakes, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Groupe a la Mode, LLC (“Sponsor”), which shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor is responsible for the collection, submission or processing of Entries and the overall administration of the giveaway. Winners will be notified by email at the email address provided in the Entry Information on or about 24 hours after the random drawing. Potential winner must accept a prize by email as directed by Sponsor within 24 hours of notification. The ARV of the prize represents Sponsor’s good faith determination. That determination is final and binding and cannot be appealed. If the actual value of the prize turns out to be less than the stated ARV, the difference will not be awarded in cash. In the event of a dispute concerning who registered online to participate in the Sweepstakes, the registration will be declared to have been made by the authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, education institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. A potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the email address. If a dispute cannot be resolved to Sponsor’s satisfaction, the entry will be deemed ineligible.
