In the coming days I’ll be sharing some posts related to my adventures out West with the Disney Social Media Moms Conference I attended at Disneyland last month. But I just couldn’t wait to post about “Maleficent.”
Of all the cool things I was able to experience at the conference, one that left a lasting impression on me was the inside look at Disney Motion Picture’s upcoming release, “Maleficent,” starring Angelina Jolie in the title role, and Elle Fanning as Aurora.
“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
While at the conference, I was able to hear from one of the producers of the movie, see an extended, highly-proprietary clip, have my picture taken with Maleficent herself (no, not Brad Pitt’s other half….a Disney standby) and was even treated to a guest appearance by Elle Fanning!
The movie is rated PG and opens in theaters nationwide on May 30th. Visit http://www.disney.com/maleficient for more details and enjoy this special sneak peak, including an interview with Angelina Jolie here:

Um, can we talk about how cool it is to have Angelina Jolie here on my blog? 😉

{I was not monetarily compensated for this post. As a Disney Social Media Moms Conference attendee, I was provided discounted accommodations and park tickets and also provided the most magical experiences and perks by Disney. The DSMM sponsors provided product and helped make the magic happen. All opinions expressed here are solely mine.}

I’m so excited about this movie… but I’ll be seeing it by myself for now. Too scary for Ana… although Zoe might actually enjoy it.

I’m excited to see this too (and I am not an Angelina Jolie fan) – but my daughter is def afraid of the commercials for this movie….and know it’s not appropriate for her, yet!

I cannot wait to see this! My daughters want to as well but not sure if it’s appropriate for a 6 and 4 year old

It’s definitely not appropriate for 6 and 4 year olds — it’s very dark (literally) and I read an interview with Angelina Jolie that her own kids aged around 7 or 8 were scared of her in costume on set! That’s why they have little Vivienne in the move playing young Aurora — she was the only one not scared of her mom 🙂
