My mom always loved flowers. From fresh, vibrant arrangements to the silken variety that adorned our house, she was a big fan of botanicals. Some of my fondest memories are of her showing up to a holiday at my home with a beautiful fresh arrangement in hand – the perfect accent piece to my set dinner table.
With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I’m certain it will be a bittersweet day for me and my brother, given our recent loss. But I’m finding that my mom comes to me in ways unexpected…
The kind folks at Teleflora recently sent me a beautiful arrangement for Mother’s Day review purposes (and p.s. – they’re even allowing me to give one away to a lucky reader! Entry is at end of post) and I couldn’t help but think that this was my mom’s way of “sending me flowers.”
In addition to the florals they sent over, they provided me with a roundup of their complete Mother’s Day bouquet collection – some that even include the option to add a SpaFinder gift card in increments of $25, $50 or $100. There were arrangements with towering lilies, stunning roses in assortments of vases – from hand-blown glass to vintage-inspired designs. There’s even an arrangement that includes spa delights like deluxe body wash, body crème and a candle. You can view the complete collection here.
But the arrangement that spoke to me was their aptly named “Butterfly Serenity Bouquet.”
Mostly, because of the butterflies – butterflies have long been a symbol in my family for the deceased members of my mom’s family. My childhood home was decorated with butterfly accents throughout the rooms and my mom even wore an antique gold and diamond butterfly ring that was once her mother’s. Naturally, the butterfly symbolism continues for me with my mom now deceased, and it was strangely a source of comfort for me to receive a flower arrangement called the “Butterfly Serenity Bouquet.” It’s simply beautiful and reminds me of something my mom would’ve liked – it surely would have been the bouquet I would have selected for her this Mother’s Day.
So instead, she sent it to me – via the fine folks at Teleflora. And I’ve been enjoying it on my kitchen table for the past week. As a Mother’s Day gift to you, Teleflora would like you to enjoy their Butterfly Serenity Bouquet, too. With every butterfly I see this summer, I will also see the face of your Mom and my sweet friend. She’ll always be with us.

Lisa: I am so impressed with your blog. And I agree, your mom sent those flowers for sure. Although we will always miss our dear sweet Kathy, she lives on in the heart of a beautiful daughter that she was so proud of.
