It’s as if I was living a pop culture dream. Except it was a reality. As in reality stars from some of my favorite shows on cable television.
On Saturday, I had the chance to meet, greet and chat with Bravo-lebrity and Maternity Expert, Rosie Pope, as part of her appearance at Destination Maternity’s newly-renovated Paramus, New Jersey location. You can read about my experience at the store in my post on Macaroni Kid.
As a big time BRAVO TV fan, I was pretty excited to get the chance to speak with Pope, who was literally “Pregnant in Heels” at the event – expecting baby number four in sky-high sparkly Louboutins.
Also at the Destination Maternity event were Kevin and Danielle Jonas. You might know him from a tiny little rock band called THE JONAS BROTHERS but I know and love them from their adorable little show on E! called “Married to Jonas.”
What’s not to love about these two Jersey natives (and current residents!)?! I spent some time talking to them about their expanding family – despite Danielle’s non-expanding body…she is seriously THE tiniest pregnant person I’ve ever seen, her frame a whisper and as delicate as her soft-spoken personality. They told me that Danielle was 5 months pregnant, expecting a girl and that they are still working on a name for her. Knowing of Danielle’s strong Italian heritage, I shared with them that my son’s name is Rocco.
“That’s an awesome name!” exclaimed Kevin. While Danielle offered that, “I love that name – we have several Roccos in my family.”
Score! Got the rock star stamp of approval on my kiddo’s name!
I also asked if Kevin plans to sing or play guitar against Danielle’s belly for the baby to hear, and they shared with me a very special moment that recently happened: Apparently, Danielle visited a recent show of the band, and when she walked into the arena, the baby started to kick upon hearing her daddy’s music.
So sweet!
This week, I had another opportunity to see Rosie Pope – this time at the Fashion Forward Conference in NYC. She was the lunchtime keynote speaker, and talked at great length about her career path from restaurant waitress, to sales clerk at A Pea in the Pod to landing a reality show advising hoity-toity moms-to-be in Manhattan. I was once again struck by her refreshing candidness, energy and approachability.
I reasoned to myself that since we’ve now met more than once, and within the same week nonetheless, that it must make us fast friends. Right?
Also at Fashion Forward was LuAnn from BRAVO TV’s “The Real Housewives of New York.” She could not be more delicious in her Countess glory, making saucy comments from the audience during Pope’s keynote to reading from cue cards and dropping not-so-subtle mentions of her new jewelry and table top collections launching this fall as she spoke on a panel.
<Insert eye roll here>
I was more interested to learn, however, that “The Real Housewives of New York” is almost done filming season six – and we’ll see it air in the late Fall. I’ll be tuning in…will you?
Now, if I only had a reading done by TLC’s “Long Island Medium” or talked real estate with Josh or Madison of “Million Dollar Listing,” my week would have been complete.
Oh , well…back to reality.
