Another Disney post, yes. I know, I know.
Truthfully, it’s a matter of pure coincidence — The FROZEN/Kidfresh giveaway and Twitter Party; this #DisneySide party recap…and our upcoming trip to Disneyland next week all back-to-back here on the blog – but frankly, after going through the holiday season and winter my family and I have gone through, can you blame me for the copious coverage of all things pixie dust-related?
We need this.
Life. Vitality. Celebration. The HAPPIEST place on earth.
And we also needed to thank a community of friends and neighbors who helped us in so many ways during my mom’s illness. Meals, child care, prayers, cards of support – I couldn’t ask for a better group of neighbors.
So what better way to say “THANKS” than to have a #DisneySide afternoon pizza and playdate?! I was fortunate enough to receive a box of party materials from the folks at Disney, and wanted to share it with our neighbors and friends.
The children were encouraged to get into the spirit by donning Disney-themed apparel or accessories and they were simply adorable! From Princess Sofia, Anna and Cinderella to Jake and a Dalmatian, we had quite the cast of characters represented. There were even a few Elsa-inspired braids sported by the little girls. And many adults wore Mouse Ears.
We had a FROZEN screening in the basement playroom – which was a BIG hit – while T-shirt making thanks to Hanes and FROZEN coloring sheets took place in the living room.
Our “tattoo parlor” was also a big hit, with the little ones excited to have Goofy placed on their forearms.
Pizza and juice were enjoyed, in addition to homemade trail mix (Ocean Spray Craisins®, mini pretzels, fish crackers, O’s cereal, chocolate chips and raisins), popcorn and snacks.
And then it was time for some cupcakes! The kiddies loved the Mickey Mouse-themed cupcake wrappers and the make-your-own-Mouse-Ears element to the dessert (tip: serve your Oreos next to the cupcakes and allow the kids to place the ears themselves!)
Thanks to our friends at Disney and Hewlett-Packard, our guests went home with Photo Card Packs, Minnie Mouse posters and other little party treats. And a special thanks to my dear friend, Jennifer, of Confections by Jennifer, who handmade Mickey, Minnie and Cinderella chocolate lollipops.
Overall, a fun time was had by all. What a wonderful way to usher in the weekend by sharing and showing our #DisneySide with our neighbors and friends.
And what a perfect prelude to the fun awaiting my family in just a few short days! Within the next week, you can follow along our adventures out West by following @momalamode on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
