eVisioning All That Can Be in 2013…and Beyond

January 3, 2013 by Lisa Pisano Leave a Comment

Happy 2013, folks!

‘Tis the season for resolutions, fresh starts and all that jazz, right?

I decided to try something new this year – in lieu of a list of resolutions, I was inspired by my dear friend and fellow blogger, Sharon P. of Mamaste to put together my very own eVision Board.

Ok full disclosure – Sharon physically put the board together for me (that’s actually what she does! More on that in a bit…) but I provided her with my hopes, dreams and aspirations to weave into a beautiful collage of colorful opportunity.

Those closest to me would tell you that I’m a huge proponent of putting things out into the universe with the hopes for them to ultimately come to fruition.  That idea of “if you can dream it, you can do it,” if you will…

I’ve heard myself say things like:

“I want to work from the beach house…”

And several years later found myself typing away at a consulting project and a product review from the kitchen table of my in-law’s shore house.

Or even silly things, like when I was just out of school and first working:

“One day, I’m going to have Mangia [a pricey NYC lunch spot] as a proper lunch, and not as the leftovers from an executive meeting.”

And found myself working at a Chelsea-based culinary school conveniently situated two doors down from a Mangia, where I had lunch several times a week.

Or

“I want to have a son as my first born child.”

Ok, so that last one was likely pure luck.  Or fate.  Or maybe I controlled it by willing it. Who knows…

You get the idea.

When I first became aware of Sharon’s eVision Board service, I thought, “Gee, that seems easy enough to do myself.”  And ten months went by and I never got around to putting my own board together.  Who really has the time to pull together not only their dreams but also cool, motivating accompanying images?

And that’s where Sharon comes into play.  She gives you the kick in the yoga pants that you need.  You know that onetime famous Lottery motto, “All you need is a dollar and a dream?” That’s kinda how I feel about these eVision Boards.  Only you need $20 and 30 of your dreams.  A small investment considering the potential big personal payout in the end…

My eVision list in its raw form (I wasn't kidding about the hot beverages)

My eVision list in its raw form

So here’s how this worked: for several weeks, I kept a running list on one of my dad’s old notepads.  This jambalaya of career and life goals, aspirations, hopes and dreams sat on my kitchen table, where I would jot down a few ideas as they came to me.

At times, it served as a coaster for hot beverages.

And ultimately, it was complete enough to be sent digitally to Sharon for her to bring the list to life visually.

To say I was thrilled with the outcome is an understatement. It was exciting, enthralling and motivating to have these visual reminders of what I hope to achieve artfully arranged before my eyes.

Sharon has specific instructions for you when she delivers your eVision board to you – you must download it as your computer’s screensaver so that you are forced to see if everyday, as well as use it as your wallpaper on your phone.

Of course you could print it out and frame it, or leave a copy in your car, etc.  The idea is that it should be a permanent presence in your everyday life and be highly visible at all of your major touch points so that you’re constantly reminded of your goals.

I eVision great things for you in 2013 and beyond.  And I hope you do, too.

Looks great! I used to do this with a fun pinup board and cut out pictures, but the Evision board makes more sense these days. Cheers to everything coming to you!

Thanks! I know it seems so obviously easy to do, right? But considering my son’s baby album is still not put together (and he’s inching close to 3 already), putting my own board together myself seemed like it would never happen. eVision rocks!
