{Product Review & Giveaway Closed} Be Safe in the Sun (and Go Green!) with babyhampton

June 17, 2013 by Lisa Pisano 2 Comments

The Hamptons are known for having some of the best beaches in the Northeast, which is why it’s no surprise that East End mom, Kristen Peterson, was concerned for her children’s increased exposure to the sun.

“Living in a beach community and wearing sunscreen every day, I wanted to make sure my children were getting the best broad-spectrum protection without all the chemicals,” she said.

But when investigating the sunscreen market, Kristen was perturbed that there weren’t enough studies on the long-term effects of chemical sunscreens on children.

So she got to work formulating a mineral-based sunscreen of her own that was certified organic and effective enough to provide broad-spectrum protection against the sun.

And that’s when babyhampton was born.

babyhampton 1

I had the chance to try out babyhampton  beach*bum spf 30 sunscreen on my toddler son, Roc, a few times over the past couple of weeks (on those few occasions when it has NOT been raining in the NYC Metro Area!) and I’ve been very happy with its coverage and how it’s been received by my son’s skin.

Memorial Day Weekend was the perfect time to break out our new sunblock!

Memorial Day Weekend was the perfect time to break out our new sunblock!

Let’s talk about baby and toddler skin for a minute – it’s a delicate issue, right?

Now add an underlying condition like eczema or a dermatitis of some sort and it can be very difficult to find the right sunscreen to keep your kid protected from those harmful rays while at the same time not have them completely covered in red, itchy spots.

I’m happy to report that my little eczema boy had ZERO reaction to babyhampton.  And I’m SO not surprised. It’s made with some of the finest ingredients around (of course — it was made by a mom!) Ingredients so good that you could EAT them – like grape-seed extract, green tea, rose hip antioxidants, extra virgin olive oil.

Yummy, right?

And then add in the soothing properties of shea butter and jojoba oils and the muscle of zinc oxide and you’ve got yourself one creamy yet powerful protectant.

babyhampton 2Did I mention that it’s certified organic by USDA/NOP? And that it’s made in the U.S.A., and by a momprenuer?

Some other fine attributes worth noting about babyhampton – it’s:

  • 100% GMO Free
  • Hypoallergenic & Fragrance Free
  • Gluten Free
  • Vegan
  • PABA & Paraban Free
  • Not tested on Animals
  • Biodegradable
  • Ocean Friendly

Yeah, you get the picture – this stuff is AMAZING.

And while it’s priced a bit high — beach*bum sunscreen is $19.99 and beach*bum sunstick is $14.99 — keep in mind a tube of sunscreen can go quite a long way on those little limbs and faces. And most importantly, an investment in quality products that can keep your kids healthy and safe is never a bad thing in my book.
